Between the Covers Books

Welcome to Between the Covers, where book lovers never go to bed alone.

We are sorry to say that we will be closing the bookstore on

June 1st due to the rising use of e-readers and declining book

sales.  We are having a progressive clearance sale through the

month of May.  All inventory is 30% off this week.  We still

have a lot of great titles so come on by!

My name is Hayley Wright and I am the owner, along with my husband, Troy and my daughter, Piper. We opened for business on October 1st, 2007. Troy and I have both lived in Bend since the early 70's and our daughter, Piper was born here in 1998. We love living in Bend and we try to take advantage of everything it has to offer.

On the Corner of Delaware and BondI actually lived in this very neighborhood in the mid 70's. Those were the “golden years” of my childhood. I spent a lot of time riding bikes, playing at the Thompson School playground, and running around with the neighborhood kids. My favorite destination back then was the Delaware Market on the corner of Delaware and Broadway. It was two short blocks from my house, and they had candy. I should mention that I was obsessed with candy. Money in my hand meant candy. Candy, Candy, Candy. The bookstore is two blocks east of the old Delaware Market and it looks like the Delaware Market used to look so I simply had to have candy here. Not just ordinary candy either, the candy I ate as a kid. Whistle Pops, Pop Rocks, Bottle Caps, Wax Lips, etc. I personally don't love candy like I used to, but I do love books, and I have lots of books. Books, Books, Books.

There are three of us here at Between the Covers. Me, of course, Tony, and Kaisha. My friends Lisa and Elka also help out on occasion so I can go to the Post Office and check my mail every once in a while. Be sure to take a look at the staff picks to see what we are reading and put our names to our faces. Did I mention that I like fun. Reading and talking about books is fun. People around me that didn't used to read, now keep books behind the counter and come in sporadically to sit and read. This is a great thing.

If you live in Bend, stop by and say hello. If you are out of town, you should definitely come visit. If you love to read and like to hang out at bookstores you are my new BFF. Did I mention I have free Wi-Fi? Come visit.

We can't wait to meet you.
Hayley Wright
